Foundation

There once lived a house—the finest one could find.
Then, what is more than death killed it.
Its epitaph reads:
“Its death was not caused by the eyes that peered,
Nor caused by the lack of strength for the load it bore,
Its death was not caused by age,
Nor caused by a decree of the gods,
But by an overlooked portion in the foundation”.

Eneye Lawal is a budding poet, who hails from Okene Local government in Kogi State. As a result of his passion for literature, he studied English and Literary Studies at Kogi State University.
